I'm back...

Sun Apr 15, 2007, 2:00 AM
like a vertebrae... yeah. lame I know. but I'm in a good mood even though it's 3am and I'm messing with my already fucked sleep schedule. My new job is great... got my first paycheck and I gotta say... I am so glad I left my last one :). Sure I had a rocky start when it comes to sleep and commuting... but I am starting to feel revitalized.

So after a breif hiatus, I plan to return to taking pictures of everything and anything I see. I have a few photo shoot ideas in mind so I'll be getting some new stuff up soon. Just before I went to shambles there I made myself a soft box (cause I was so goddamn poor) which actually seems to work ok. So I'll be trying that out too to see if I can get some decent results. It's pretty tough when you think your stuff rocks... and then you learn a bit... and suddenly you can see many many mistakes that you wish you could have avoided. Oh well. We can't all be *RavenMacabres or *josemanchados but we can sure as hell recycle what they do and pawn it off as our own (Just two of the fabulous photographers on this site).

Must Sleep

Tue Apr 3, 2007, 10:00 PM
So I just started my new job. I spent all of last week trying to wrap up all the projects I had running so I was really busy with that. And now I'm adjusting to waking up at 7am (instead of 11am since I'm no longer working from home :() and so by the time I get home I'm already tired. Today was a kind of double whammy with my martial arts class after work. I'm absolutly exhausted. Anyhow... still alive.. if only barely.

10,000 views (deviation views that is)

I joined up at DA so that I could get some exposure and learn more about photography and other art work. I never would have imagined the amount of exposure I would actually receive. I'm blown away, especially when there is so much amazing work out there. (I find myself getting lost in the site, going though galleries, checking out their favs, going through those galleries...and on, and on).

As such, I would like to say thanks to everyone who comes to this page and looks at my photos... huge thanks to those that :+fav: my work and my utmost thanks to those that leave me the constructive and insightfulful comments on my work or my main page. And to those watching... let me know how I'm doing as I go. I learn by experience... that's the only way I can do it. So sometimes I need to be given a nudge in the right direction.

As always... brutal honesty is requested.

Don't work too hard ppl.. RS

Big Update

Thu Mar 1, 2007, 11:17 PM
I just uploaded 20 (plus or minus a few) new photos today. I'm always amazed by the instant influx of new visitors. My page views went up by 100 by the time I finished actually uploading them... I think I've gotten myself a little obsessed with this.

Anyhow... One thing I'm looking for in a response is that if there are any faux pas in my photos... please let me know. Otherwise ah won't learn nuthin'. Any tips, criticism, and pointing out good stuff will ultimately aid me in getting my shit together and figuring out what I'm doing.

Thank you all for the comments, favs, and attention I've gotten over the past week.

Take it easy.

Learning curve

Sat Feb 24, 2007, 1:46 PM
well.. since i've been on, I've put up about 34 photos. It's really interesting to see the difference between what I think is good and what others like (Turns out that it's true... sex does sell). But I've actually received a lot of good feedback on everything.

I've really gotten some great comments from fantastic photographers like JACAC [link] and HighStatic [link] who's galleries in themselves have gotten me to be more attentiove to presentation as well as the composition. I find that I'm spending a bit more time tweaking levels and such and adding borders to photos. All I need now is better equipment. I've learned to love my little Cannon SD300 for things like concerts or other places where camera's aren't allowed (Sin City for example... heh) and it does allow for a decent amount of control... but I look at my dad's digital Minolta SLR .... and wow, that thing is awesome. Well... maybe in a few paychecks.

Anyhow.. I just wanted to say thanks to those who offer advice and praise, and thanks to those just swinging by and checking it out. That's what it's all about anyways.
